What Could I Be Alerted About?
Emergency notifications may be issued for a variety of incidents affecting your community.
Severe Weather
Tornado warnings, flooding, fires, severe storms, and other hazardous conditions.
Public Safety
Missing persons, hazardous materials incidents, law enforcement activity, and other urgent safety concerns.
Evacuations
Evacuation instructions affecting buildings, neighborhoods, or communities.
Public Health
Boil water notices, public health alerts, utility interruptions, and similar community information.
Make Sure We Can Reach You
Your contact information is essential to receiving emergency messages from local officials. Residents are encouraged to register and keep their information current, including:
- Mobile phone numbers
- Text messaging numbers
- Email addresses
- Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone numbers
Because many households no longer maintain traditional landline service, registering current mobile phone and email information is especially important.
The Emergency Notification System does not replace calling 911 for emergency assistance. It is an additional tool used by participating local governments and public safety agencies to distribute important information to the public.
Information provided through the registration system is used to support emergency and public notification services. Please keep your contact information current so local officials can reach you when notifications are issued.
DISCLAIMER: The Everbridge notification service (the “Service”) is provided as a supplemental emergency communication method and should not be relied upon exclusively.
The Heart of Texas Council of Governments (HOTCOG) and its participating member governments make no guarantee that a notification will reach any particular recipient upon activation. Delivery may be affected by factors outside the control of HOTCOG, participating jurisdictions, or the notification service provider.
The Service does not replace 911, local emergency services, official instructions from public safety authorities, or other methods of receiving emergency information.
